My affordable everyday makeup products

My everyday makeup products

Hey everyone,

Following on from last week’s affordable skincare blog post,  I wanted to talk to you this week about affordable makeup products that I use every day.

Before I apply any makeup I make sure I cleanse my skin with micellar water and use my daily cream by blessed by nature. You can read my previous blog post about my thoughts on my new skin care products I use.

I am by no means a professional when it comes to makeup. As I mentioned in my last blog post I have been wearing makeup since I was 11 years old, but I have obviously improved a lot over the years. As you all know by now I am a mum of 9 children, so time is not on my side. I only want to use products that are quick to use, are easy to apply and look good, but most of all they have to be very affordable. I recently cleaned out my makeup bag and realized I actually needed quite a few new makeup products.I had neglected my makeup bag for a while.

When I recently visited my local Priceline and bought my skincare, I also treated myself to some new makeup products too. I was excited when I realized one of my favourite makeup brands @rimmelllondau had a sale on. I believe the sale is still on too!

The first product I bought was the; Rimmel London lasting finish primer primer is only $6.97!

I think is pretty awesome! Now to tell you the truth I was not one for primer until very recently. For all these years I had been applying foundation/ powder and wondering why it looked so patchy and uneven. Since using the primer I no longer have these issues. I wish I had started using it sooner. It is a full coverage foundation to a certain degree. I’d say it is more of a medium coverage foundation. It gives my skin a flawless finish. It is great value for money. All in all,it is a great foundation.

The third product is the; Rimmel London day 2-night mascara

Essentially it is day mascara and then you can transition it to a full dramatic mascara for an evening out. actually, love this mascara. I would just recommend wiping some of the product off on the bottle before applying the fuller volume mascara as it could end up being too cakey. This cost around $10.

The 4th product is the Katie- By Rimmel London contour kit-

I really like buying kits that are 3-1. it has a contour, blush and a highlight in the pack. It has step by step instructions on the back. The colours are gorgeous and it is still on sale for $8.49. All in all this product is amazing!

The 5th product is a nude Rimmel London lip liner that I bought absolutely ages ago. But I believe the link is to the correct product

I am not very good with lip liner and have very thin lips, but the product goes on with great precision and  I have had no issues with it. I think it is a great product. This is on special right now for $4.49

The next product is my most favourite out of all the products. The brow kit from Elf cosmetics. It makes your brows look so good, especially when they are in need of a good wax. The kit has a gel and a powder. It also comes with a small brow brush. I love the definition it gives my brows. This product is $9.The best part about elf cosmetics is you can buy your fave products and chose to pay with after pay if you wish.

The next product is an eyeshadow palette I bought from Aldi It’s called stepping up- Lacura cosmetics. I bought it ages ago but it cost me between 5-10 dollars. The colours are very pigmented and apply so well. They actually feel silky smooth once applied. I know it is from Aldis but it is actually one of the best eyeshadow palettes I’ve ever owned.

The last product is this beautiful lipstick from lust minerals. It was created by my beautiful friend Simone Marie. The shade is number 58.It is a nude/natural colour. It feels super lightweight when it is on. I absolutely love this lipstick. It did cost me $30, but I wanted to treat myself. Lust minerals also have after pay available on their online store.

I hope you love all the products I mentioned. I try to keep my makeup collection small and not too complicated, I, however, am waiting on a makeup order from Db Cosmetics and Elf Cosmetics. I can’t wait for it all to arrive!

Enjoy your weekend lovelies

Affordable everyday skincare

Hey everyone,

Welcome to this weeks blog post. Now,  you all know I have  I have been battling a horrible virus for over 10 days now, so, unfortunately, it has been a little quiet on the blog post front. I am still unwell, but definitely feeling much better than I was.

Today I wanted to talk to you all about skincare. Now as a mum of 9 children I hadn’t always looked after my skin, I sometimes would be so tired at the end of the day and would fall asleep in my makeup! We all know we shouldn’t do that but we are all guilty of it. Recently I have started pampering myself a little more and it has honestly made me feel so much better.

I started wearing makeup when I was only 11 years old!  It’s very young I know! I used to cake my makeup on and it looked horrendous, eventually, I got the hang of it. I have always been quite lucky and have had reasonably good skin,  it’s only started to decline in the last few years since having my children,  and getting a little older that I noticed it was a little on the dry side.

I had always thought buying skincare would be out of my budget and too expensive, but after talking to a lovely Priceline employee at my local Priceline I realized how affordable it actually was! I told them I was a busy mum and that I only wanted quick skincare routine that could be done in under five minutes. The Priceline employee was very helpful and very knowledgeable about all the products she spoke about.

After chatting to the Priceline employee for a while I decided on buying natural skin care.

The first product I bought was the;  Blessed by nature skincare revival kit  This was only $18.99 and it came in a lovely little cosmetic bag, in the bag you get 2 creams, a day cream, and a night cream. When I first started using the cream my face would sting, and this was only because it was enriched with vitamins A, C & E,  but after a few days it settled and my skin got used to it. I have been using these creams for 3 -4 weeks now, and both creams have been working really well on my skin. They smell divine too. These skin creams are suitable for all skin types and I highly recommend them!

The second product I bought was the; Essano beauty rosehip micellar water  I bought this product for about $5.99, but currently, it is on special for $4.49 Which is an absolute bargain! I squirt a small amount of this onto to some cotton pads * this is important because it activates the product*  and just cleanse my face, it works great as a makeup remover, or even just a little something to keep your skin feeling cool and fresh. I absolutely love this product and will definitely be buying more when this one runs out! I also to clean my face, the Priceline makeup remover wipes; These makeup remover wipes are only $2 which is incredibly cheap, I bought the sensitive skin ones and they have honestly worked so well on my skin

The third product which I use once a week, which was kindly gifted to me from Priceline, is the;  You can buy this product for only $22.99. It might only be a 50gram jar, but you honestly only need a small amount to cover your whole face. I leave mine on for about 10 minutes and then I just rinse it off. My face always feels super fresh and smooth after I use it. This product smells amazing, and I have noticed a big change in my skin since I’ve been using it!

I have been using all these products listed now for about 3-4 weeks and I’m so happy with them all, they don’t take long to apply,  and my skin is feeling super soft and looking so much more fresh and youthful.  I may have started my skincare regime quite late but it’s never too late to make these changes in your life.

I bought my skincare products for under $30 which in my eyes is a complete bargain!

Please remember that I’ll only ever share products with you that I have tried and tested and absolutely love.

Priceline have lots of awesome deals on at the moment, and just in time for Christmas. You can check them out at

Planning Christmas| How do you plan yours?

Hey everyone,

With only 6 weeks till Christmas, I thought I would give you all a little insight on how we plan for Christmas in our busy household.

Let me start by saying that our family believes in the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas day, and this is what we have always taught our children. Christmas is a beautiful time for all, and it is also so lovely to celebrate this wonderful day with family and friends.

where do I store all my Christmas wrap and labels from the year before?

I  usually store all my Christmas wrap, labels sticky tape in a box and store it in the shed, however this year I  hear Kmart have an awesome Christmas storage bag which I am hoping to get my hands on, they actually look so much easier to store everything. My goal for 2019 is to get everything organized in my house!

Planning it all

Christmas planning can be very stressful for everyone, but this year we decided to open up a Christmas club account with our bank, and I’m telling you it’s the best thing that I have ever done. I was able to save up a good amount, which will pay all the families presents, including those we send overseas, and our Christmas food shop. I feel less stressed about it all this year. My Christmas shopping is well underway. I will definitely be restarting my Christmas club account at the end of January 2019. I have already started my Christmas shopping online but will need to venture out to the shops too. I  do love Christmas shopping, but sometimes I leave it till last minute and have a mad rush to get it all on Christmas Eve.

Christmas tree & decorations

I used to be one of those people who always put their Christmas tree &  decorations up on December 1st! However, in recent years, we have been putting our tree up a couple of days before Christmas and then decorating it all as a family on Christmas Eve whilst listening to Christmas carols. The worst part about putting a Christmas tree up is the branches, they take so long to sort out. I’m very blessed to have lots of little hands to help me out with that, but it still usually takes a whole day until I’m happy it looks right!

We never go over the top with presents. Our children get 3 presents each, and a stocking each, and then one huge joint present for them all. We then head over to my mother inlaws house where we celebrate Christmas day with family where of course the children get more presents.

Hosting boxing day

Every year I usually host boxing day at my house, and the family and some friends come over and share the day with us. I love boxing day because there is always leftovers from the day before that the family always bring with them, and I also enjoy glazing and cooking my ham. Stay tuned to the end of my blog post for the glazed ham recipe that I use from It is absolutely delicious!

I always wrap all Christmas presents up on Christmas eve, and believe me when I tell you, I am usually up till midnight doing it all. I think this year I will try and wrap up as I go and just do what’s left over on Christmas Eve.

Christmas day morning

On Christmas day morning everyone is always up super early and our family tradition every year is to get up, pray some prayers together as a family, and after that, I hand out yummy Christmas biscuits to everyone! Then we all open up our presents which takes a good hour or so, and then after that, we skype family overseas and wish them a Merry Christmas. Once all of that is done we then rush to get ready in our gorgeous Christmas outfits and take a few photos, and then rush out the door to make it in time for Christmas mass which by the way is an hours drive from us. We usually need to leave by about 9 am the latest. Then after mass is when we go to my mother in laws to celebrate the rest of the day.

I absolutely love this time of year, but first, we have 2 birthdays to get through first

My daughters birthday is on November 21st, and my birthday is December 21st

These next few weeks are going to be super busy,  but it is also going to be great too

How do you all celebrate Christmas?

I would love to hear from you all

As promised here is the recipe and I have used many times >>>Honey, mustard glazed ham- TASTE.COM.AU

How do I cope with stress?

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog!

I have been asked a few times how do I cope with stress/ bad days?

I  have always told people when they have asked me this question; ‘by the grace of God is how I Cope’

We all have bad days sometimes right? We all have those days when no one wants to listen! We all have those days when everyone wants the same pen or toy! We all have those days where the kids are fighting with one another! We all have those days where the kids stole something from the fridge! We all have those days when the kids want to see who can shout the loudest! I  mean the list is endless of all the things that could go pear-shaped!

As you know we are a very busy household, there is 11 of us in our house, and I  admit that sometimes it can get a little crazy!  Although the children are very well behaved, we do however have those bad days just like anyone else. We also have to remember that our children see, and hear everything, and how you react in that moment of stress is very important! It’s no use shouting ! which I am sure we have all done right? But I try to first find out what the problem is? and why it happened? and once we are clear on that we come up with a suitable solution. Sounds easier said than done right? But it’s true!

resixed image 2

Although we are only human and have our bad days, I find that something simple like smiling shows the children that my mum is strong and she has got this! and she can do anything! Even if you don’t want to smile it’s still important to do it.

For me personally, the power of prayer is incredibly important. Faith is a very important part my life,  and with Gods guidance, gets me through my days.

Also When I Feel stressed I   like to make a coffee, or a cup of tea and head out in the garden for a few minutes for some fresh air, and sometimes I  like to walk up and down the garden too. I  just say to the kids ” mummy is just going outside for a minute” When I’m outside I take a few deep breaths, pray a prayer, and tell my self  ‘you can do this’ It is also amazing what fresh air can do! Once I have done this I am ready to come back it and start afresh.

When my husband is home on the weekends I sometimes like to take myself out shopping for a few hours. It is very important  to have that time to yourself

Remember to always allow yourself a little break every now and then. Remember to always smile and hug your kids, and lastly remember that you are an awesome mum!

God Bless you all,

Krechelle’s fight – A family in need

Hey everyone,

I am writing a different kind of blog post for you all today.

My beautiful friend, and fellow ‘mummy blogger, Krechelle Carter,  from the very well known blog ‘Eightathome‘ is a supermum to 6 beautiful children under 8. She is always so positive and is always lifting others up when they feel down. I think the reason that many love watching Krechelle is that she is always so honest about her life as a busy mum of 6. She is always so positive, witty, funny, and always shares great advice. WITH us all. Krechelle has made such an impact on thousands of people including myself. She really is such an inspiration to so many of us. I don’t think I would be where I am right now with my weight loss and blog journey if it wasn’t for krechelle’s awesome advice. She literally gave me the push I needed. Thanks, Krechelle for always being so awesome!

Unfortunately,  the lovely Krechelle has fallen very ill this year and has been in and out of the hospital, and has had to have multiple appointments and surgeries. Sadly she has just been told she will need to have her bowel removed very soon to prevent her from getting colon cancer in the future. She will have to have a stoma bag put in permanently and will have urgent sinus surgery to relieve pressure from her optic nerve. As you can imagine this would be very hard news for them all to process. I will personally do all I can to help the family during this difficult time. Krechelle is an amazing woman, and I am in awe of her positivity,  and courage, during what must be such a difficult time for the whole family. Her wonderful husband Dave has taken a huge amount of time off from work to look after Krechelle and the kids, and as you can imagine the financial strain on them has been very difficult. A gofundme page has been set up for the family. Please feel free to donate if you can,  Otherwise just sharing the gofundme link with all your family and friends will be a great help too. We could potentially reach thousands of people. Now it is our time to give back and rally around the family and do all that we can to support them.

Krechelle, I will do all that I can for you and your beautiful family. My family and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers every day, and we all hope you start to feel better real soon. I know the next 12 months is going to be very hard for you,  but we are all here to support you always.

You have got this Mumma!

Why did I start my blog?

Hey everyone,

Where it started?

Writing these blog posts for you all over the last few months have been absolutely amazing. Id love to tell you why I started it all in the first place, and what my goals are for the future with it all.

I have always wanted to start a blog but I have always doubted myself and thought I couldn’t do it. I am a busy homeschooling mum, but I really wanted to start a blog and had pondered on the idea for so long. In June of this year, I finally took the plunge and created my website “”  I honestly feel it’s one of the best things I have done, and my writing has improved immensely. I feel I have grown so much already. I never realized how much  I enjoyed writing either but it’s been absolutely amazing talking about our journey as a family of 11. I have actually had my facebook blog and Instagram since 2015 but didn’t update it very often, but now having it all linked together has helped me so much with it all. The more social platforms you have, then the more places you can advertise and promote your blogs to others. It’s all a working progress and I absolutely love it.

Do it because you are passionate about it

I started this blog because I wanted to do something for me, I love my life with my husband and children, and  I feel absolutely blessed,  but being a stay at home mum of  9 children living in a rural town,  I wanted to make one of my hobbies become a reality. I  started my blog because I honestly love writing and sharing our family journey. I have received so many lovely comments and messages from people which have been so lovely and it makes more driven and passionate about what I do.

Don’t start it with high expectations, or for the wrong reasons

I feel sometimes people start blogs/ Instagram and expect to do collaborations and be paid for writing blog posts almost straight away.  I believe you should start a blog first and make sure to enjoy what you do. Choose a free blog platform first and see if it is for you? Then later look at the premium options. If you are not passionate about writing then don’t do it. Start your blog for the right reasons only. It takes a long time to do collaborations and be paid to write blog posts for others etc.. I have personally done a few collaborations so far,  but through my Instagram only, and I am currently am not paid to write these blog posts for you.  I have ads on my blog but have not made any money from them as of yet. I take this time out of my busy schedule once a week to write something for you all because I just love to sharing my journey with you. I am passionate about writing and I hope that shows? Obviously, it would be a bonus to be paid a small income from it all but it really isn’t about the money for me. When I have spoken to some very big bloggers they told me it actually took them 1-2 years to establish themselves and to be able to work from home as a mum blogger. Its okay to set yourself goals, I of course have set myself goals but I am in no rush. I am just going with the flow and enjoying every minute of it!

Future goals

My goals for the future is to continue to reach out to as many people as possible and continue to share my journey with you. I want to help change peoples opinions on large families and talk about how you can balance it all, and that it is possible to budget well. I want to share how you can still have a timeout with your loved ones. I have so much I want to share with you all and I’m honestly so excited to continue this journey with you all! I have so much more I want to share with you and I have so many blog ideas.

Thank you for all your love and continued support on everything that I do!

A year ago today – Dear Grandad

Hey everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that a year ago today my dear grandad passed away. I cannot believe that a whole year has passed already? But not a day went by where I wasn’t thinking of him. I miss him dearly

It is never easy losing a loved one. My family live overseas and I was not able to travel to England while he was sick, or when he passed away because I was heavily pregnant at that time.  I do wish I could have been there one last time to hold his hand and tell him how much I loved him.

My grandad had been unwell since the beginning of last year, but an actual diagnosis did not come until the end of September of last year where they confirmed it to be liver cancer, and sadly two weeks after his diagnoses my dear grandad passed away.

The same weekend my grandfather passed away I had been away with my husband and children for a short weekend break to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The whole time I was away I had that constant sinking feeling but still tried to remain positive.

On the afternoon of the 7th of October, we were sitting on the verandah at the holiday house when a beautiful kookaburra flew down to us and perched himself on the edge of the verandah. He looked at us curiously. We were able to get really close to him and feed him and even stroke him. He stayed with us for ages. I had that sinking feeling again. Could this have been a goodbye from my grandad? You see, my grandad was a lover of birds and an avid bird watcher, he knew so much about birds and growing up he used to teach me a lot about them. The bird eventually flew away but I had been so amazed by what had just occurred. Never have I seen a bird of that kind be so tame. I have spoken to people who had similar experiences after a loved one passes away.

This picture here is the actual kookaburra that came to visit us ^

My grandad had sadly passed away on the 7th October 2017, but I did not find out until my husbands birthday on the 8th October due to travelling back from the coast,  and the time difference, but also my family decided they didn’t want to tell me until I had got back home from holiday, I of course totally understand that but I felt like I already knew and I had been preparing myself to hear those dreaded words; I’m so sorry Claire, but unfortunately grandad passed away’ I mean no one is ever ready for those words, but he was getting weaker and weaker and I just knew it would be sooner rather than later.

When I got home on the 8th I had a tearful conversation with my mum and my heart sank. I have never really lost a loved one that is so close to me before. I just felt numb when she told me.  I just wanted to be there and hug everyone and I felt sad that I couldn’t. I cried so much that night and husband hugged me tightly. It has taken me a very long time to be at peace with it all and on this sad anniversary I can’t help but feel so sad again, I do however try to think of all the happy memories I had with him growing up. We really had so many happy times as a family and I will never forget them.

Before my grandad died I had written him a personal letter with some family photos which I know read to him before he passed away. We also made sure to tell him that we found out we were having a boy after 8 girls. He was thrilled for us. I am so glad he was able to read my letter, but I still wish I could have been there to tell him how much I loved him in person. One thing that still breaks my heart every day is that my grandad in the last week of his life was so desperate to video call me on skype, but sadly he never got the chance to do that.

I am in regular contact with my grandma. I always phone her as much as I can to see if she is okay. I think my grandmother is an amazing woman with how she has coped with it all. I am in awe of her courage and strength. I feel the same about my mother too she is also very much like my grandmother and has shown strength and courage in what has been a very difficult year for us all.

I am very sad today but I am also thinking about all those wonderful happy memories and I think it is the best way to remember someone.

Here are some words for my grandad;

Dear Grandad – A year ago today;

A year ago today you left us.
I  know that I am far away but I have been thinking of you every day.
Today I feel so sad and I am trying to be strong
I wished I had got the chance to say goodbye, hold your hand and tell you that I loved you,
Sadly it wasn’t to be.
and I  still cry because I miss you so much
I have been remembering all the happy times that we shared

In sad times like these, I think it is important to think of all the happy times.
Grandad, I’m so sorry that I  was  not there to say one last goodbye
I’m so sad that your gone,
But I know I must get on.
I feel so very sad today.
I truly hope I get to see you again one day.

I love you dear grandad

Life is  so precious and so short, so, please
Tell your loved ones, how much you care. Hug them tightly and kiss them and cherish every waking moment with your family. You get one shot at life, so spend it telling others how much you love and appreciate them.

Thank you for reading my sad blog post today. I ask you all to pray for my grandad’s soul with this prayer;

Eternal rest, grant unto him, O LORD. And let perpetual light shine upon him and may he rest in peace. Amen

Love always

Claire xxx

Where it all began

How we Met

Back in June 2006, I was just a normal 19-year-old girl living at home with my parents and working fulltime. I decided I wasn’t earning enough money and decided I would start a second-weekend job. That was when I met Mark. He was on a 1-year hiatus from Australia as his family home had burnt down in a house fire. Unfortunately, they had lost everything! To tell you the truth though we actually had our first encounter a few weeks prior to that as I had gone to that particular bar with my friends most weekends, and actually the funny thing is,  that one night I was out dancing with my friends when a mutual friend came over and was rather cheeky and said, ‘see my mate here he really likes the look of you! I was like, ‘umm okay go away! How rude of me right?! But this particular “friend” was always cheeky with the things he said. Fast forward to a few weeks later and I had started working at the same bar and that was when I got to know Mark, and I really thought he was lovely. He was always so kind and taught me everything I needed to know about working in a fast-paced bar. He always offered to drive me home after work even though he lived completely the opposite way!

Our First Date

We really go to know one another, and I had butterflies in my belly every time I thought about him. One day I texted Mark and said, ‘I really like you! so cheesy right?! But I just had to tell him! A few days later we planned our first date which was at Southend. We spent the day at the beach and going to the arcades and we went on all the rides, and A little while later we had dinner together. It was such a beautiful day that we shared. After dinner, we sat on a dock, partly stretch out into the ocean. We sat there for what felt like hours, dipping our feet into the warm summer moonlight water and talking about all sorts of things.

We shared many more dates together and I think we both knew from early on that it was love at first sight!  It didn’t take us long to say ‘I love you’

Mark Goes to Egypt

About 3 months after we met we were on a night out at the bar where we both worked. Actually, at that point, I had stopped working at the bar as the late nights were impacting my day job. We were having such a lovely time then Mark said I have something to tell you. Mark then said he had decided to go and visit his parents in Cairo Egypt and would stay for about 3 months. About a week later he was gone, and I was devastated. We stayed in contact through phone and email and I longed for the time when Mark would be back.

Mark Goes to Australia

After Mark returned from Egypt he started working at another bar. Mark had said he had to go back to Australia and go back to his job. He asked me if I would like to go with him too? I, of course, didn’t want to be without him and I said yes! I knew it was a big life change for me But I was so excited for the journey ahead with the man that I loved so much. Just before my 20th birthday, we went out for dinner with both our families and that was when Mark turned to me in front of everyone with a beautiful ring and asked me to marry him!  I obviously was shocked but said yes instantly! We had our engagement party on the 30th December 2006, and sadly the next day was when Mark had to make his travels back to Australia, I couldn’t go just yet as I was organizing my visa and flight. I was so upset saying goodbye! I knew it would be at least 3-4 weeks before I would see him again. I was also so sick with a chest infection that day he left too which made me feel even more miserable! I spent the next few weeks recovering from illness and organizing everything for my departure. I thought it was best to keep myself busy.

I go to Australia

The day came when it was time to leave for Australia. I felt anxious and excited at the same time, and I obviously felt sad because I was leaving my family to start a new life on the other side of the world! We said our tearful goodbyes and off I went. When I saw how big the plane was I started to feel really anxious and burst into tears and funnily enough, I got to board the plane with mothers and children because of how freaked out I was. The journey ahead was long but pleasant. I had spent 7 hours in Singapore waiting for the changeover. I arrived in Australia on Australia day 2007.

When I first arrived in Australia from England I had no idea what the future would bring and I was excited for the journey ahead.

The day that I arrived I was so tired as I had not slept the whole entire flight. Mark had taken me out for dinner and we celebrated my arrival.

Married and the Future

On May 12th 2007 we were married. It was a beautiful day surrounded by many beautiful friends, but unfortunately, no family could travel at that time. We honeymooned in Sydney and had an amazing time. One year later we had our first baby! life was beautiful. Fast forward to now in 2018,  and we love each other more than ever! We have 9 beautiful children under 11 years old, 8 girls and 1 boy and I Feel I am so blessed to live in this amazing country, with an amazing husband and our children.

I don’t know what the future holds, but I will cherish every moment with my beautiful family!

Springtime planting with the family

Hey everyone,

It is finally springtime! and hopefully, that means we will have some nicer weather! I love looking at all the blossoms on the tree this time of year, it always looks so beautiful. Spring is such a colourful season and it is my favourite season of all!

It was time for us plant all our seeds and grow our veggies and herbs. We bought all our seeds from Bunnings this year and they were not expensive at all. I love the fact that when its time to harvest it all, you no longer have to buy those particular vegetables from the supermarket for a while, and that is definitely a big money saver there! We didn’t plant carrots this year, they are only $1-$2 to buy. As a family tradition every year we plant all our veggies and herbs together. The children chose what seeds they wanted to plant and all had their own plant pot. My husband and I told them how to place the seeds in their pots and they all done a fantastic job! I find that learning all about gardening is very educational for the children too.  They love watching everything grow! Although it was a muddy affair we all had so much fun!

This year we have planted;

  • Thyme
  • Mint
  • Snowpeas
  • Capsicum
  • chilli
  • Shallots
  • Spring onions
  • Cucumber
  • Strawberries
  • Basil
  • Chives
  • parsley
  • Dwarf beans

My husband will be heading up the mountain just behind our backyard this weekend to plant a whole heap of corn. I can’t wait for everything to grow it is going to look so amazing. I will definitely take some more pictures as they grow.

Here is a gardening tip for you all;

Buy some cheap soil from Bunnings and mix it with small amounts of fertilizer and use that as a dressing for the garden bed before you plant your seedlings, make sure you do this a couple of weeks before you plant your seeds.

Happy gardening!

When do I find time for housework?

Hey everyone,

I have been asked many times on how I manage to fit in housework on top of homeschooling the children, blogging and managing eleven of us every single day. Well, friends, I start my day with a few coffees because as you know coffee is life!

We have our breakfast around 7 am and then we start our homeschooling from 8.45am till 1.30pm then we stop for our lunch and then we do our sports in the garden. Usually around this time, my 7 month old and 19-month-old are having their afternoon naps. While all the kids are happy and playing outside, this is when I dedicate my time to doing the housework. The first thing I do while everyone is playing is washing up the plates and cups from lunch, and then I take a load of washing out to the washing line and get the girls to help me hang and take down the washing. I usually do 1- 2 loads of washing a day, this, however, could change if someone has had an accident or been unwell. a couple of years ago we bought a huge Samsung bubble washing machine it is probably one of the biggest machines on the market We have a heat pump dryer to dry clothes that we need quickly, but since the spring weather has been nice I have been making the most of it and hanging up the clothes. The girls love to help me sort and fold the washing and help me put away in the afternoon.

I have an awesome dishwasher, however, a few have broken down over the years which has been unfortunate, but to be honest, I would be lost without my dishwasher! It has been a huge lifesaver for me over the last few years. I  however still wash some things up because as you know not everything can go in the dishwasher. I load the dishwasher 1-2 times a day and I usually fill it up before bed ready to be put on in the morning. I am usually awake before everyone else in the morning making baby, bottles and huge amounts of coffee so this works out well for me. I try to prepare dinner and lunch early in the day as well so that I can get on with other household things.  sometimes I enjoy making a quick fruit salad with yoghurt and honey in the morning. it is a beautiful spring/summer lunch for the kids. We always try to be creative and have a different variety of foods.

My husband is also very supportive and always helps around the house when he can. I feel incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful man like him in my life. He vacuums the house for me, I, of course, do my fair share of vacuuming throughout the day too because you know kids can be messy! When the kids go to bed at night that is usually when I like to clean the bathroom and clean the kitchen floor, I know that might sound crazy? But it is nice and quiet around that time and I  can do this without any interruptions. Not every day runs as smoothly as I have explained to you all! We have our days where nothing goes to plan, or something is broken, or the kids are unwell. Our days might sound busy and crazy to you,  but honestly, it isn’t! Well ok… sometimes it is haha,  but I find if you have a good routine in place then everything should run smoothly.

The other reason that everything works out so well in our household is that we all work as a team. Teamwork is so important in a very busy household!

In our house, we have full hands,  full hearts, and we are always full of love and hugs. I feel incredibly blessed with this life I’m living

If you have any other questions for me then don’t hesitate to ask anytime. I am always available for a chat.
