Here are some ridiculous assumptions about my family and I

Here are some ridiculous assumptions about my family and I

we sponge money from Government?
We don’t but this is one of the many “laughable” and “incorrect” assumptions that are made about my family and me. Quite often when people see a large family like mine especially in online media articles they assume they are sponging money from the government, or are just having a large family for the money but that is indeed a false and ridiculous assumption. My hubby works full-time and I work part-time so, we get very little money from the government. We are just very good at budgeting our finances, So when people say ” you must be loaded” The truth to that is nope we are not!! But I will say this, Think of all the little future taxpayers we are bringing up. We are a very hardworking family. We had a large family because we wanted too and because you get one shot at life, so why not live it to the fullest? We are extremely proud of what we achieved so far and are blessed that we’ve been able to have a large family

I panic to buy all my shopping.
No, I don’t. I live very rural and have to grocery shop for my family fortnightly. When I do my shopping my trolley is sometimes overflowing and on some occasions, I have to go in a second time on the same trip to buy more things. I often have people coming up to me whilst I’m shopping asking if I’m ‘panic buying” and I just say: “No, This is my regular fortnight;y shop as we have 11 people to feed. You should see the shock on some of these people’s faces. Shopping fortnightly is very necessary for my family and me.

I homeschool my kids because I think I’m better than the school teachers.
Again, this is another incorrect assumption. First off, I think all school teachers are amazing and I would never say I was better than them ever! We just had to make decisions that were the best four our family. We have been homeschooling our kids for the best part of 6 years now and it’s been amazing. We decided to homeschool because we live rurally and had limited options where we live and since I was I stay at home mum, It would be a good idea to homeschool them. We are registered as an official homeschool under N.E.S.A. If you were to ask me whether it’s easy to homeschool, then my answer would be No, but what I will say is that it is worthwhile. Every day is a new adventure.

I am a rich blogger!
Sadly, I am not but I didn’t start my blog for the money, I started it because I was passionate about writing and wanted to document my weight loss and large family life. I also started to it to connect with other mums so that we could all have a positive outlet to share our advice, tips, and tricks with one another. I’m not sure where this assumption came from but I have received a few comments over the last couple of years assuming I was paid for everything I do with my blog. I rarely get paid work through my blog especially since COVID came. I mentioned the other day that if I do anything that is paid or a collaboration, Then I will always disclose that no matter what. I love my blog and I love the little community that I have created. You honestly all keep me going on the days that I have had enough.

I became Catholic because my husband told me too?
This again is incorrect and although I married into a Catholic family all decisions were made by me only. My husband is always so supportive of everything I have decided to do. I haven’t always been a Catholic, nor was I bought up religiously, and In-fact I was baptized in the church of England as a baby. I became a Catholic eight years ago. It took me another four years after I was married to make my final decision to convert. I researched and studied so much before I decided what I wanted to do. I realized I already had faith within me, I just didn’t understand it or know how to use it. The beautiful thing about faith is that you learn something new every day. I am so glad to have made that decision to become Catholic because my life feels so much better with God in it. I understand that not everyone is religious, and that’s fine. I respect and love everyone. I am only human and make mistakes every day. I am by no-means perfect. I am still the same old bubbly & clumsy Claire that everyone knows and loves!

I like to drink a lot?
Actually, no I don’t unless it’s coffee or tea because I drink heaps of that through the day to keep me sane. I do like a couple of wines on the weekend, but the truth is I’ve never been a big drinker and know my limits when it comes to alcohol. I have never been drunk in my whole life. I think when I was about 18, I was once “borderline tipsy” Go me! I also have a phobia to vomit, I think that plays a factor in it too. Yes, that is a bottle of wine in the back pocket of my bus lol. This picture was taken after a grocery shop one day, I secured the wine bottle in the back pocket so It did not break on the way home. I do have a 40-minute car journey to get home. Call it “my top mum hack”

So there you go here are some ridiculous assumptions that have made about my family and me. What’s the most ridiculous assumption someone has said about you and your family?

I’m not just an influencer

I’m not just an influencer

Hi everyone,

I’ve had some things things on mind lately that I really wanted to share but I wasn’t sure how to put it all in words so, here it goes nothing..

For the the past 2.5 years I’ve been blogging/writing and documenting my life on here and I’ve been very lucky to have had some amazing opportunities along the way which I’m truly grateful for. It was never my intention to become an ‘influencer’ it was somewhat accidental and a natural progression that’s happened over a long period of time.

I initially started my blog to document my weightloss but after some media attention and ‘public interest’ in my large family it had turned into so much more. Even though we are a fairly private family, I started to document what life is like in a household of 11 people. It’s been quite the journey!

Now here’s a shocker, I dont like the word ‘influencer’ there’s something about it that bothers me and makes me feel really cringe! Maybe it’s because it sounds weird when you say it? All I know is, it just doesn’t sit right with me浪

I critique everything I put out on my blog as I want all my content to be great, meaningful and relatable. I always strive to do better.I still make mistakes sometimes, who doesn’t? I’m only human! I’m not perfect and have never claimed to be. I do want to say though that first and foremost I’m a mother and wife and despite what you may think, I’m not just an ‘influencer/blogger. I believe there is so much more to me too, however, I’m just normal person with normal feelings trying to juggle mega motherhood but the difference is, I’m just documenting everything at the same time.

Aswell as running my blog, I’m writing a book, I’m homeschooling my kids and I also work part time from home. I have many things I want to achieve in this lifetime and hopefully I get the opportunity to do so. I don’t want to stick to doing just one thing, I want to branch out and do many new and exciting things. I’m excited for what the future may bring.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love promoting products that I truly love and believe in but I will never promote things I dislike and don’t believe in. I don’t take every collaboraton that comes my way either. Every collaboraton requires alot effort and time with things like research, genuine thoughts and feelings after trialling the products, photography, editing, writing. There’s really so much that goes into content creation.

I would never be dishonest or fake. I don’t see the point in it. I always disclose when something is gifted, sponsored or a brand ambassador program, collaboratons, and even give-aways. This is so important to do and is required by the law also. Sadly many people aren’t disclosing these things on social media, but I can only speak for myself and say that you will only ever see genuine and honest content from me and if you read this whole blog to here then thankyou! You are amazing!

Your support means everything to me
‘Thistribeofmine’ wouldn’t be here without any of you 

My weightloss journey update

My weightloss journey update

Hi everyone,

Over the last month or so I’ve been tracking what I’ve been eating and I’ve been keeping very active, and to my surprise I’ve lost a few more kilos. I didn’t expect it at all as id hit a wall with my weight loss.

As we get closer towards the end of the year I really want to reach my weight loss goals. I’m feeling very determined to achieve my goal.I’m getting so much closer now and it’s really exciting! I only have 5 kilos left to lose.

This has been an ongoing process for me which I started almost 2 and a half years ago. I’m 35 kilos down! If you’ve been following me for a while then you would have seen my transformation unfold over that time. I thank you all for your ongoing support 🥰 I am very proud of myself and how far I’ve come. It just proves that anyone can do this! I’m so glad I said “Yes” to a healthier lifestyle. My whole mindset has changed on food. I still have setbacks as I’m only human but my self control is so much better to what it was 2 years ago.

Lastly I will be toning up and Maintaining my weight and will be doing more of a low carb/paleo diet.

This week it’s going to be a big week for me as I’m going to be running and exercising everyday. I actually went for my run this morning and I worked out when I got home. I did stretches, squats, weights and tummy crunches and I ran for 30 minute’s. I hope I can keep this up. I will share my update at the end of the week and see where I’m at. if it’s a non-scale victory then that’s okay, at least I know that I’ve worked hard and that I’ve ate really well. It’s still a step in the right direction.
