I haven’t done an update in a while.. I have officially been doing the keto diet now for 2 years and it’s been quite the journey. Over this period of time I have lost 33 kilos and im really proud of myself.
About 8-10 weeks after my 9th child was born, I was an unhealthy 107 kilos and I knew I had to start looking after my health so that I could be the best version of me, not only for myself, but for my family too.
I can tell you straight up that when you first start keto it’s really really hard but it’s also really worth it too. You just have to stick with it! Don’t give up! 💪
As a mum of 9 under 13 this has been the only diet that has worked for me and I’ve seen huge result’s! My life has completely changed because of it!
Over the last 2 years my whole mindset on food has completely changed which I’m truly thankful for. One of the great things about keto is that there is so many yummy and low carb alternatives to the foods your already eating. You just need to get creative! You can do drive so much resources and recipes online too.
In terms of exercise, I try to run 3x a week but I’m also considering doing some weight training too.
Now if I’m honest, in the last year I haven’t lost any more weight, if anything, I fluctuate between 75 -80 kilos. Maybe it’s because I’m not as strict as I used to be? – However, I still need to lose at least another 10 kilos to reach my weightless goal. I’m still on my journey and I hope to have reached my weightloss goal by September. I know I can do it, I just have to keep pushing through.
Thankyou for your ongoing support over the last 2 years!
Today my blog ‘thistribeofmine.com‘ and my instagram turns 2! Where did the time go? I’ve been blogging for 2 whole years and it has been so amazing! I couldn’t of done it without your love and support though, so Thank-you so much! 🥰
I originally started my blog on godaddy.com at the beginning of June 2018 but I then merged over to WordPress.com in September 2018.. so some might say “Hey you started in September! but nope, we’ve been going since June 2018 🙌
I originally started my blog to document my weightloss journey on the keto diet but after some media attention on the size of my family it turned into so much more and I started blogging about our busy but fun lives as a Family of 11.
It’s been a blast! There have been some highs and some lows but I wouldn’t change any if it! You learn something new every day! I really enjoy writing and sharing my life with you all.
I have had some amazing opportunities along the way and have made some awesome freinds for life. I’m really enjoying this whole experience.
I love keeping my blog real and honest and fun! I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 2 years brings! 🙌

Recently I have been using the @wylerahair curler on my hair.
I have have really thick and coarse hair so styling my hair can be incredibly difficult.
Over the years I have used many hair curlers/tongs on my hair and I would just get so frustrated as it was so time consuming. I would just end up tying it up in a ‘mum bun’
The Wylera Wireless Hair Curler is a game changer for me! I’ve finally found something that works on my mane 🦁
The Small Ceramic Curler is completely wireless for use on the go, which is so handy for us busy mumas. You can literally take it anywhere! But for now I’ll just settle for my living room 😉
Your curls will stay place all day long. In-fact mine lasted for at least 3 days. You can set the temperature adjustment settings and create frizz-free luscious curls. My hair only took me 15 minutes to do. That’s pretty impressive.
Curl direction settings are adjustable too to suit your face shape. It only takes 30 seconds to heat up. I’ve been loving the dreamwave curls in my hair. I look like I’ve been to the salon when in-fact I just did it myself 😉 The ceramic curler comes with a usb charger fur easy charging.
Here is my IGTV video review of the hair curler below this picture
You can use my discount code; CLARE30 for a whopping $30 of your dream wave curler. That’s $30 / €20 / £20 off elsewhere!
The Wylera hair curler can be shipped to countries such as the UK, Canada, America and Europe, but please check the website for further information. Also please note that my discount code cannot be used on the New Zealand website.
All this self isolation staying at home business got me thinking…🤔 Is it any different to being a stay at home mum *living rural* full-time? I guess in some ways it is and in other ways not so much. We aren’t seeing our families/friends so that’s the biggest and hardest change for everyone. I’m missing everyone dearly 😫
For me personally, I live rural and homeschool my kids so ‘I’m home alot anyway. I already live in isolation and have done so for 9 years. Our closest shop is 45kms away.
Before this pandemic happened I was able to go out once a week/fortnight to get essentials and now I’m not able to do that as no family are visiting etc.. so It feels a bit weird, but we are doing okay. I can’t bare to watch the news lately..😫 My husband has been getting what we need when he finishes work. I’ve been home for over 3 weeks now. I usually like to go out once a week if I can, so that side of things is affecting me alot. I was starting to feel really flat and anxious.. so this week I decided to get up at the crack of dawn every day go for a quick morning run, by doing this I have felt much better within myself. It might only be for 15 mins but it’s really helping me. Fresh air can do you the world of good. Although it’s not the same as going shopping, I can still excersise everyday which I’m grateful for.
One thing that has affected us greatly, is not been able to travel to church as a family for mass every Sunday, however, we are now watching live mass at home. It’s not the same but we are thankful that we have a solution in place.
Being a stay at home mum can be tough especially when you live rural and have no shops nearby. It’s especially hard during this crisis and living with so much uncertainty.
Do you live rural? Can you relate?
Although this time is difficult for us all, we have to remember that this won’t go on forever. We are staying home to keep each other safe.
This week is national Hearing Awareness Week and I want to share the importance of raising awareness on hearing loss and what Sound Scouts can do to help. There is a number of hearing loss in my family and so early detection and being prepared is paramount for my family and I. Did you know that an estimated 1 in 10 children has a hearing loss? Early intervention is the key for children with hearing loss. When a child’s hearing loss is identified early, they have access to so many different tools for speech and language development, such as hearing technology. A long-range study has uncovered significant differences in the language abilities and education of children who are treated early.
I was recently introduced to an amazing app called Sound Scouts.
Sound Scouts is a game designed to test the hearing of young children, especially around the time they start Kindergarten. This app is a government-funded app and is aimed at children aged 4 years and older. Thanks to the government funding the app is free to use which is so awesome! As you all know I home-school my children so I want to make sure that my children are healthy, happy and above all can hear well which will then enable them to learn well and get a good education.
Sound Scouts was developed in collaboration with the National Acoustic Laboratories, it looks and feels like a game, however, it incorporates advanced scientific principles that enable it to detect a range of hearing problems. While Sound Scouts is based on science, it’s the game-play that encourages and enables a valid hearing check. By using animation and lots of vibrant colours and fun different scenarios, the test becomes much more fun for the children. My children love the game so much. By using the app, it has helped me to understand who in my family may need to do a re-test and who may need further investigation for potential issues. When I asked my children what their favourite part of the game was, they all said; “putting the cupcakes and rainbows on the hot air balloons”.
The Sound Scouts app identifies three different types of hearing issues and the fun test takes only 6-8 minutes. I was able to test six out of my 8 girls with ages ranging 5 years to 12 years and they all thoroughly enjoyed using the app. It’s all touch-screen too and it’s really easy to use. A couple of key points:
When using the app be sure to use decent quality adult headphones (Apple earbuds are fine)
Please don’t test young children at night as they’re usually too tired and may not be able to concentrate
Make sure an adult supervises the kids doing the test
Make sure you are testing in a quiet room
Don’t forget to turn your notifications off on your device before testing
Once the test is finished you will be sent the results straight away via the app and to your nominated email address. upon completion you will be told whether your child has passed the test or not. Don’t worry if your child doesn’t pass the test. The great thing about this app is that it allows you to re-test again in 7 days.
Take part in the ‘Once Is Not Enough’ challenge and test your family’s hearing with the Sound Scouts app.
The Sound Scouts app is Available on the App Store and the Google Play store
Martina has really enjoyed playing with her new colourful Grapat Palo pieces from Forever Toys
This 18 piece set contains 18 Palos. There is 6 different colours and 3 shades of each colour. This set will give your little one hours of magical play-time fun.
Martina absolutely loved the Palos and thought the colours were so amazing. She is learning her colours and numbers right now and it’s been really great for that but also for her fine motor skills too. When playing with these pieces, we also spoke about all the different colours and how pretty they were, she felt the texture of the wood and said; “Wow mum” “Love them” and then she seemed to be in her own little magical world with her new Palos friends. It was so beautiful to watch her play with them. I believe our children see beyond the colours and the textured feel of them and they imagine something so magical that no one else can see 🤩 Aren’t kids little imaginations amazing! 🥰
You can also place these on a corner table in your house and follow the different cycles of the year by talking about what all the colours mean and matching them up with the different seasons.
These will fill your home with so much colour and warmth and I believe will be treasured by all our little ones.
I can’t wait to show my Michael next 🥰

I have recently gifted the yummy keto range from Slim Secrets to try and review. In the range was the yummy choc love bites by Sophie Monk and the delicious bare bars.
The choc love bites are low in carbs, gluten-free, Keto-friendly, 150 calories and less, portion-controlled packs. They come in 3 different flavours; dark choc with mint, protein milk with salted caramel, and protein chocolate with crushed almonds. I loved them all but my favourite one was the salted caramel. When I’m in a need of a sweet- fix which is quite often 😂, these are my go-to treats and I don’t need to feel guilty about eating them ♡ They taste incredible!
The bare bars are super yummy too. They are high in protein, high in fibre, low carb, less than 140 calories, Keto friendly and 100 % natural ingredients. The come in 3 different flavours; berries and cream clean protein, double choc clean protein and Salted caramel & banana clean protein bar. I love eating these bars when I’ve had a super busy day and haven’t had much to eat. They taste super yummy and keep me full for quite some time. I love all the flavours but my fave is the salted caramel & banana clean protein bar. The bare bars are stripped clean with nothing to hide and are also guilt-free 😉

I hope you all had a wonderful day celebrating Australia day. I know I certainly did! Australia day was a big day for me as my family and I attended Queanbeyan park’s ‘ Australia day’ celebrations where I received my Australian citizenship, Finally after 13 years living in Australia, 32 kilos down and 9 children under my belt, I finally became an ‘official Aussie citizen’ and it feels so amazing! I’m so incredibly happy! I feel so proud to be a part of this beautiful country and I’m so excited for the future.
Australia day is also my anniversary of coming to Australia so the day was even more special for my family and I. I will cherish this special day forever. I even had my photo with Mayor Tim Overall which was lovely. It certainly was a fantastic day and one I will never forget. Thank-you Australia for welcoming me and accepting me into your beautiful country. I am forever grateful 🇦🇺🤩
I will never forget my British roots or where I came from and let’s face it I’m always going to sound British anyway 😂. After 13 years here, I finally feel like I belong. 🇦🇺
I am, you are, we are Australian 🇦🇺
A big Congratulations also to the the other 80 people in the Queanabeyan Palerang region who become Aussie citizens yesterday ❤
My story is also in The Canberra Times so make sure you grab a copy if you can. I’m editing a little video of the day that I will be posting on my Igtv in the next few days
It’s been a tough few days with my husband’s car being destroyed in the hail storm and then having to buy another car. We hadn’t planned on buying another car for a while but here we are 🤔 The kids are now also sick with bad colds and sore throats just days before my citizenship ceremony which is not great but that’s life!
2020 has certainly thrown us some big challenges already. Thank God I have my supportive family and my amazing faith that gets me through these really difficult days.
When people ask me; ” how do I cope with everything? I say; ” by the grace God I get trough my days! I do get odd looks from people when I reply but I don’t care! I’m not ashamed of my faith, nor am I ashamed of my beautiful family. I am proud of everything I’ve achieved. I will always be honest when people ask me questions about my life. Praying is really important to me. It gives me so much peace and clarification. I thank God for my blessings every single day. A rosary a day, keeps my mind at bay 🙏
I have also been asked; ‘Do you feel people’s assumptions about you and your family are heightened due to your faith? Yes, I believe it is in some cases but I say; ‘let people assume all they like, Ultimately people are going to assume things about you no matter what your life situation is. today’s Society can be a very dark and judgmental place. As long as you are all healthy and happy then that’s all that matters.🙌 I’ve also been asked; ‘Does blogging and faith work well together? I believe it does work well together because my faith gives more determination and motivation to talk about the things I’m most passionate about. I’m also in control of what I chose to do. If I’m offered work through my blog that makes me feel uncomfortable or it doesn’t align with my beliefs then I will politely decline. I seek guidance through prayer when I’m unsure about something. Before doing something, ask yourself “Does that spark joy? If something doesn’t feel right then don’t do it
As a busy mum of 9, I have found my blog to be really good for me and my mental health. The last 20 months have been so amazing. I have learnt so much along the way. I will certainly continue to share my journey with you all. Keeping it real always 🥰
As most of you know by now, My name is Claire, I am a 33-year-old mum of nine children under 12 years of age which include 8 girls and 1 boy. I am married to an amazing man called Mark aged 37. He is incredible and supports me in everything I do. We live in regional NSW and have home-schooled our children for 5 years. I feel very blessed to have a big beautiful and healthy family. We work hard and do everything we can to maintain a happy household. Life is pretty amazing!
This time 20 months ago I was on holiday in the New South Wales south coast with my family, We were having such a wonderful time away and were making such amazing memories together. We had days out at the beach and we ate out at our favourite restaurants. Everything was going great but I knew something wasn’t right within myself! I wasn’t depressed but I always felt tired, down and sluggish. I also felt very unmotivated but still got on with my daily routines. At that time I weighed 107 kilos and I realized that I had to drastically change something in my life. I was scared but I wanted to be the best I could be for my family.
About 8 weeks after the birth of our 9th child Michael, I decided I needed to change my eating habits and lose some weight and so my husband did some research and came across the Keto diet! “What was this I said to myself? I felt very intrigued but I was also very skeptical on whether it would actually work because I’ve tried so many diets in the past so why was this one any different?
The keto diet is a high-fat, high- protein, low-carbohydrate diet The diet forces the body to burn fats rather than the carbohydrates! As soon as I read that I had to cut out the carbohydrates I got a little worried! I was definitely a fan of eating carbohydrates because they satisfied my cravings fast and made me feel good but the downside was I crashed quickly after eating.
The first week of the diet was hard because I had cut everything that was high in carbohydrates out of my diet and I felt quite tired and I also had a mild case of the “keto flu” But I pushed through it. Soon after I started running for 30 minutes every day. At the end of week one, I was down almost 2 kilos which felt amazing! By the end of month one, I was down 8 kilos! I was shocked! This diet was actually working and I was enjoying it too! I felt really good and had so much more energy. I was already seeing BIG results!
After 3 months I had lost 15 kilos and people were noticing and telling me how well I looked. By the 6th month, I had lost 20 kilos which was a huge milestone for me! I felt so proud of myself for losing the weight and sticking to the diet! Not only was I busy mum of nine, I was also kicking goals with my weight loss too! It just goes to show that anyone can do this! By the end of month 12, I had lost 25 kilos and was feeling so much more motivated and happy. When I compared side by side pictures of myself I realized how much weight I had actually lost
After 20 months of strict Keto, I have lost 32 kilos altogether and I am feeling fantastic! I never thought I could do it but I did! I’m now back to the weight I was before I had any of my children which is pretty incredible! I know I will never be skinny and that is okay because I don’t want to be either. It’s great to feel healthy and still have those curves! After losing the bulk of the weight, the weight loss has a been a bit slower but that’s healthy and to be expected.
I still have some weight to lose and I know I can do it!. I am so thankful to have the Keto diet because it has changed my life and my whole mindset on food has changed too. I don’t miss pasta or rice anymore! When you start Keto and learn more about it you realize there are so many yummy alternatives to the foods you were eating before and it allows you to be more creative when it comes to cooking. Some favourite dishes in our house are “Keto chicken and bacon curry” and a “Keto Sheppard’s pie” *just swap the potato for cauliflower mash*. Both dishes taste incredible! I also make my own Keto bread and it tastes really good!

For my 33rd birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to Down Syndrome Australia. I’ve chosen this nonprofit because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope you’ll consider contributing as a way to celebrate with me. Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I’ve included information about Down Syndrome Australia below.
Down Syndrome Australia was established in 2011 as the peak body for people with Down syndrome in Australia.
Our purpose is to influence social and policy change, provide a national profile and voice for people living with Down syndrome.
Our vision is an Australia where people living with Down syndrome are valued, reach their potential and enjoy social and economic inclusion. This cause is very close to my heart as I have beautiful sister with down syndrome who lives in England. She is just the best human ever and I miss her dearly
For the past week or so I have been using the WHITE GLO activated charcoal powder and the activated charcoal deep stain remover toothpaste on my teeth and I must say, I am highly impressed with it! I am a big coffee drinker and have been for the past 11 years, and although coffee is life, it also stains your teeth which is not so good.
I have tried many different kinds of toothpaste over the years and the White Glo range is by far the best of them all! White Glo has quite a few different kinds of toothpaste and whitening powders in their range that you can try and they are all equally as good as each other but I find the charcoal deep stain remover toothpaste in conjunction with the activated charcoal powder is the most effective on my teeth. I really love that each White Glo toothpaste comes with a toothbrush too! They are so AWESOME!
I’m already seeing such good results after a week and will continue to use it! I will continue to share my results with you all. This Christmas is going to be very merry and white with my almost pearly whites 😁😂 Seriously though, I absolutely love this range Have you tried white glow before? You can find the White Glo range in most supermarkets and pharmacies. . Love Claire Xx . #gifted by Sweaty Betty PR
Over the years I have tried and tested so many creams and lotions and nothing has really worked on my dry skin but now I think I’ve finally something that works really works well and I’m excited to talk to you about it!
The Duit dry and foot heal roll-on balm for dry and cracked skin:
Wow! Guys this product is AMAZING! I’ve had dry and cracked feet for as long as I can remember and at times they have been really painful too. I started using the roll-on balm and within days I was seeing results! I was actually amazed! My skin is much smoother now and less dry and isn’t painful at all. You can see how much the skin has cleared and it’s only been a few weeks. I will definitely continue to share my progress on this one. This was by far my top product out of the range.
Duit tough hands for her: As a busy mum of 9 I’m always washing my hands which then for years had lead to me having really dry and sore skin. It would often bleed too which made me feel miserable. Again within days of using the cream, I was seeing big results! Since using this cream my hands aren’t even dry at all and they actually look youthful again. Overall I am very impressed and will continue to use it.
Duit Vitamin E face cream: Growing up I always had ‘good skin’ but then after having children, my skin became dry and patchy. I tried many creams and again nothing worked until I came across the vitamin E cream. This cream nourishes your skin leaving it feeling silky smooth and hydrated. I actually love it and will continue to use it. I would add a full review on my blog later tonight
Have you tried the Duit skincare rangebefore? ‘Stop thinking and just duit’ 😎
You guys know how much I love my unique pieces from @theartisangiftco ♡ Well, today I bring you this beautiful A2 animal English alphabet poster. The animals you see are hand-drawn by using watercolour paint. Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it’s also very educational too. My children are already enjoying naming all the animals on the poster. It’so cute to watch.
The foil letters you see are currently available in gold and rose gold options. You do also have the option to purchase a high-quality Teak Wooden Hanger to go with the poster. They work with parents of toddlers to teens and everything in between!
An In-home consult includes:
2 x home visits
Individualised Oh Beehave Plan (tailored to the family’s personal needs)
2 weeks phone and email support
This service is Perth-based for home visits, with video conferencing options available for clients outside Perth (regional & remote areas, other states & countries)
Why Do I Need an Oh Beehave Consultant?
There is a lot of information out there about child behaviour with varied advice about what may or may not work. From well-researched websites to family, friends and the well-meaning lady down the road, to that Mum-Blogger you love to follow on Instagram. But is that what you really need to help you, in your personal situation, with your child, in your family?
Other parents can be a wealth of knowledge, but sometimes you need extra support that doesn’t sound like “this worked for me”.
The chances are, if a strategy worked for one child, in one household, in an environment and family completely different to yours… that strategy almost definitely will not work for you and your child. That’s because all kids are different and all parents are different!
There are times when you need someone who can help you understand why your child is acting the way they are, interpret all the information and advice being thrown your way, and reassure you that you’ve got this!
Sometimes we get so focused on pretending that we’ve got it all together to our friends and family, that it becomes hard to drop the facade and admit to the challenges and uncertainties we are facing, to discuss how we really feel.
Even when we do build up the courage to talk about it, well-meaning comments or advice can, unfortunately, chip away at our confidence further.
These are the times when you need someone completely independent. Someone who will listen to you without judgment or bias. Someone who won’t give you advice, but will help you work through your challenges and give you the tools and confidence to be the best parent you can be.
Having kid’s is challenging and it is OK to ask for help. Asking for help means you’re a good parent!
Who Will Be My Consultant?
Dominique Groenveld is your Oh Beehave Consultant. She will work with you and your family to identify the outcomes you want to achieve and help you put in place a plan with simple but effective techniques to make sure you accomplish the results you are looking for.
The service they provide is not like all the Mum’s you see out there who tell you what will work based on their experience with their own children. This service is based on my work with many children in many different environments and family dynamics. With me, you won’t feel like you’re being judged by someone who believes there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to parent. I honestly believe the only right way, is for you to decide how you want to parent your child. Because you know your child best!
Dominque has a wealth of knowledge about learning and behaviour management (she studied at University and achieved a Bachelor degree in Psychology, a Post Graduate Degree in Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Education – Majoring in School Psychology and Minoring in Health Teaching – and she was even lucky enough to have my thesis published in an International Journal!) but all fancy paperwork aside, Dominque is experienced in working with children and families and her goal is to make sure you achieve the best possible outcomes for you and your family.
What Does it Cost?
In-Home Consults are valued at $500 (video-conferencing option is valued at $400)
It’s 8 am, and the older girls wander down with a basket to the hen house, it’s time to feed the chickens and collect fresh eggs! There is laughing and giggling and they are all excited to reach down and pick up fresh warm eggs! It’s a great start to each day and they are the kinds of moments we love in our life. There is pure fresh happiness, a house full of little girls and a handsome little boy and a wonderful husband. It really is a daily adventure. Every day is a blessing
My husband Mark, 37, and, I live in a little rural town near Canberra with our nine children, yes, that’s right 9 children! Eight girls, and one boy! Their names are Georgina, Charlotte, Franchesca, Abigail, Catherine, Elizabeth, Rose, Martina, and Michael.
We have a busy, but well-managed household. Every day at our house we always fun, full of love, joy happiness and laughter! Living in a rural town is lovely, but it also has it disadvantages too. We do not have any shops and have travel 45kms to get groceries and other normal day items.
A lot of people ask me “how do you cope with a large family” or “do have a TV? Or “Your husband must be a CEO!” I always say that although life is hard it’s hard for the right reasons. A large family is a blessing a truly wonderful experience. Honestly, it’s really not that bad, we just do what we have to do and draw strength from our Christian Faith. We have hard days like anyone else, and sometimes life throws some difficult challenges our way, but I would not have it any other way! We have also been very smart, and fortunate, with our finance. We purchased our home in an affordable and up and coming area and only 45 minutes from the Capital Canberra. My husband works full-time and I stay at home looking after and homeschooling the children. Life is good!
At 1:30 pm we stop our busy day for some lunch and some garden play! The children absolutely love being in the garden with the animals! I capture these special moments on camera, as really, every day is a special day! I know that my husband and I will cherish these moments forever!
As a family of 11, 1 dog, 7 hens, 1 duck, 1 cockatiel, it is very important to shop around and find the best deals! We do our grocery shopping once a fortnight at Aldi and we set a budget of $450- $500 for our food shopping. Petrol money and bills money is kept separate, However, I do keep some extra money aside for any other extra expenses we have throughout the fortnight. We buy 48 litres of milk, 3-kilogram blocks of cheese, and 2 thickened creams. That’s a lot of dairy!REPORT THIS AD
I like to meal plan for the fortnight. I think it is very important to do this especially in a busy household like ours. We do sometimes shop at Costco, Coles and Woolworths to see what’s on special. For Sundays, we often buy really big pork and cut it in half. We cook 1 half for Sunday roast and then use the other half the following Sunday. otherwise we buy 2 chickens. We boil the left over’s and use it to make curry the following night.
If you want to save money on petrol, birthday cakes or other items I recommend going to your nearest Costco store. (if you have one) You can find some of the best deals here.
We shop around for the best insurance policies. We have an awesome deal at Saint George Bank for our vehicles (through Alliance), and home and contents insurances. We bank with service one for our mortgage and main accounts, and so far we have found them the best bank to deal with. They also are very good to bank with, if you have a larger family, they treat you fairly from our experience.
We save money by not buying too many luxuries and finding the best deals. We have seven hens and 1 duck which we free-range and get a good quantity of eggs. We also have been growing some vegetables and fruit which has been really great for us!. Another smart way to save money is by opening up a Christmas club account with your bank. Ours does not let you withdraw the money until November 1st. We try to put $150 in the account once a month. Holidays are ad hoc when we have available funds but we normally getaway for 2 weeks per year.
We are not penny pinchers, dole bludgers or anything in between. We work hard, save money and do the right thing for our family and community. We are not big spenders either. We always make it work no matter what! No one ever goes without. We are adaptable and able to adjust our budget needs if and when we need to.
When it comes to buying clothes and shoes I like to shop at places like Kmart, Target, Best & Less, Big W and even charity shops like St Vincent De’Paul. My mother in law is a hairdresser and often cuts the kids hair for me which is wonderful and a big benefit for us. Not everything has to cost money, like days out etc, why not take a picnic in the park or go to your local botanical garden? Lakes, beaches national parks and bush walks are also great ways to enjoy time with your family. Be creative with your ideas. Kids will absolutely love that!
Or the typical day is very busy but after baths, dinner and other activities we are now finished and snuggled up on the, very large, lounge together. We talk about our day, how we are all feeling and what the new day will bring. We look at our tribe with so much pride, love and joy it makes us so happy!
At 8:30 pm it’s time to be tucked into bed and get comfy with bedtime stories. My husband and I use this time to reflect on our day, discuss the future and enjoy each other’s company.
We (my husband and I) feel so incredibly blessed to have our family. We thank God for our blessings and graces. We are no different from anyone else. We are part of your community. We are Australians.
In our digital age, sharing photos of our children is a common occurrence. From birth and right through school, parents share every aspect of their life with family and friends. In fact, according to research conducted by cybersecurity company McAfee, 30% of Australian parents use social media to post a photo or video of their child at least once a week, with 12% posting at least once a day. This was despite 71% understanding that the image might end up in the wrong hands.
A 2017 University of Florida study found that “when children appear in Facebook photos, 45.2% of the posts also mention the child’s first name, and 6.2% reference the child’s date of birth”. On Instagram, it was worse: 63% of parents referenced their child’s first name in at least one photo in their stream and 27% of parents mentioned their child’s date of birth. Almost one in five shared both pieces of information.
It’s not just the parents themselves who are keen on sharing images of their child – photos are a big part of a school’s activities – from the daily photo at childcare to establishing student identity at high school, from school newsletters about students’ achievements to institutional marketing material.
As parents, we’re responsible for protecting them until they are old enough to make their own decisions about their online presence. So how can we hope to protect our children from security risks when their world is full of situations where their photo is being constantly shared?
The first step is to gain a better understanding of what correct photographic consent looks like, so you can push back if you’re asked to sign a consent form that is in any way coersive. It is becoming more common for educational institutions to issue a permission slip upon enrolment in a school or childcare centre, asking parents if it is okay for them to photograph their child. Please be aware that not all permission slips are made equal.
For example, schools should never ask parents to sign a consent form that lasts forever. Consent must always have a use-by date, because a lot can change in a short space of time. Schools should obtain fresh consent from parents and guardians regularly – once a year should be the bare minimum.
In a similar vein, push back if your child’s school attempts to ‘bundle’ consent into one form. You are not truly consenting If you’re being asked to do it all at once, or to tick one box. Instead, schools must provide the opportunity for parents to have greater choice and control over what the school can do with their child’s images.
This is because family needs and individual circumstances are constantly shifting, and a situation that was once okay may no longer be. Unless schools can consistently renew consent for specific situations, they risk exposing children to serious harm.
Always speak up if you ever feel like consent is being taken from you in a way that could be considered coercive. If your school is banning children from enrolling or entering an event unless their parents have signed an ‘all-in’ consent form, for example, then they’re not collecting true consent.
In cases like these, parents might feel pressured to sign the form, even if they have legitimate and serious reasons for not allowing their child to be photographed. Instead, schools should always make it clear that deciding not to give consent will have no bearing on your child’s experience.
Navigating the digital world will always be a complex task – for adults and children alike. But if you get image consent right you’ve fought a big part of the battle in protecting your child’s digital footprint and will help educate them to become more responsible digital citizens in the future.
About Colin Anson, CEO and co-founder of pixevety:
Colin Anson is a digital entrepreneur, and the CEO and co-founder of child image protection and photo storage solution, pixevety https://pixevety.com/
In 2012, Colin saw an opportunity to create a unique business within his area of passion, photography. He witnessed first-hand the potential risks and harm the mismanagement of photos can have on children. And he became an advocate for protecting every parent’s right to determine how their child’s photo is used, and protecting every child’s right to safety and digital privacy. After learning of the minefield of privacy laws and the daily stress for schools in managing and sharing the photos of every single student, Colin decided to do something about it. And pixevety was born.

In collaboration with Red Gum . Hey everyone, As you all know my family and I love the beach and we would spend every day there if we lived nearer to one. About a week before our trip to the New South Wales South Coast, a lovely little new business called Red Gum reached out to me and asked if I would like to collaborate with them. When I saw that they were selling cute baby beach tents I thought they looked amazing and so handy! I, of course, said yes!
Red Gum sells a range of beach tents, beach pool tents and sleep tents for your little ones to enjoy at the beach, park or even in your back garden. They are UV protected and they come with pegs so that it stays secure to the ground. They have about 7 different designs for you to choose from too. These beach tents come in circular zipped bags with carrying handles so that you can carry them easily to the beach. The tents are easily foldable and can be flat-packed into the bags without any hassle. They are so light that even the kids can carry them for you! 😎
Another awesome thing about the tent is that if you dig a hole in the sand and place your tent over the top where the pool insert is, you can actually fill the small insert with water or sand so your little bub can have fun whilst being protected from the sun 😁
The tents range from $49.95 but at the moment Red Gum is having a spring clearance sale and has a 20 per cent off happening right now!
My kids absolutely loved having their picnic in the beach tents and told me how cool they thought it was. Michael was very tired and teething and had a little nap in the baby sleep tent which worked out really handy for us too! If you are planning a beach day then I highly recommend these tents for your day out!

For the last 3 months, my family and I have been using the 12-month family membership with maths online. My children are really happy using this program! I have never seen them so excited about math before so I’m definitely a very happy mum right now! Over the next 9 months, I will be updating you on their ongoing progress with the program We are so happy with how everything is going. Maths has just become a fun subject in our household thanks to Maths Online!
How it works:
Each of the 1,400+ Maths Online tutorials lasts around 4-9 minutes and present the concepts of the maths lesson step-by-step. Using synchronized audio and animation which harnesses both audio and visual learning styles simultaneously. Maths Online lessons can be studied at home or at school and all devices. Obviously, no one can force a young person to study maths, but what they have done here is provide materials that are interesting and stimulating in themselves, and which will encourage the student, once started, to continue studying.
What we love about it:
What we love about the program so far are the video tutorials that you can listen to before each lesson. the tutorial explains the lesson very well and even shows you a few examples to help you. I also love that I am able to set tasks and keep track of my children’s progress.
Our progress so far:
We have really been enjoying the program so far. Everyone has been learning so much. They know so much about Algebra and place-value now which is awesome!I I noticed a big change in their results from 3 months ago until now. The children’s scores were averaging between 20 and 50 per cent and now 3 months on most of their scores are between 75 and 90 per cent! This math program is working and I couldn’t be prouder of my children! We are so thankful to the team at math online! You really have much such a huge impact on our home-school education.

The one thing I don’t talk about often is my anxiety. I don’t like feeling exposed because I fear people will think differently of me. It’s such a personal thing and find it hard to open up about it and say what triggers these emotions. But it should definitely be spoken about more.
I suffer from anxiety which stems from my car accident I had 3 years ago. I believe that everyone has different levels and forms of anxiety, and different ways of coping with it. The day I had my car accident I feel I lost a part of my sparkle. It’s slowly coming back now which is good but when you experience something as scary as that where your life flashes before your eyes it can take such a long time to feel yourself again. It changes your life forever!
I get anxious about driving to certain places and I get anxious about parking too close to people etc..These might seem like small things but to me, they seem huge! The fact that I’m even driving after such a huge ordeal is such an achievement and I am proud of myself for that! I actually drove 2 weeks after my car accident and have driven ever since, but it hasn’t been easy. I tell myself every day that I won’t let these bad drivers win! And that I got this! I just need to change my mindset when it comes to driving because as of right now I don’t enjoy it like I used too, I drive because I have too to. I always put my family first no matter what!
Sometimes I feel people look at ‘anxiety’ as a dirty shameful thing and of course it’s not and you should never feel ashamed. If you need help then please ask for it. There is so much support out there. And remember you are WORTHY and loved! #yougotthis
We all have different ways of coping in certain situations and for me personally, my faith and family have helped me so much in getting through these hard moments which I’m so thankful for. My confidence in driving is getting better each time I go out. I decided if in a year this still affects me then I will seek help because it’s okay to not be okay and ask for help Love always Claire Xxx.
AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK SPECTACULAR . Hey everyone on Tuesday night last week my family and I went to the Australian outback spectacular dinner and show. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and show, We have never seen anything like this before. We are just country folk! We had a great night and were entertained throughout the show. We felt a little lost towards the end of the show, I guess we felt a bit overwhelmed with everything that was happening, which is a good thing as it kept us entertained. The show is fantastic and the animals and the light shows were absolutely incredible. You can see how much time and effort that goes into these shows. I highly recommend seeing it if you are visiting the Gold Coast. We will definitely see the show again one day. We recently collaborated with an amazing family owned company called : https://artisangiftco.com.au/ They sell amazing keepsake gifts and prints. My family and I, quickly fell in love with their products. What I love is that they put so much love, care and attention into their products and it truly shows how passionate they are about what they create for us. They are creating and designing products that we will love and cherish forever.
About arts and gift co
The Artisan Gift Co. was established in 2018 with the idea of creating hand made keepsake gifts that will last a lifetime. Starting off with hand made prints, they have grown their range and added decor, toys and gifts but they have and continue to stay true to what they’re all about: hand made and high quality. They are not wrong there either because their products are incredible!
The unique and beautifully hand made gifts you buy from The Artisan Gift Co will be so special and will be something you and your family will cherish for many years to come and nothing is more special then a beautifully handmade keepsake you can share with your loved ones.
My family and I received 2 wonderful products from The Artisan Gift Co.
This is a fully personalised cushion. The cushion also features a small paragraph on the back which really cute and gives it that story feel. They retail at $85.00 and afterpay is also available. The quality and design of this product is absolutely impeccable and I know that my son Michael will cherish this for many years to come.
I wanted to have something special and meaningful that I could proudly place in my house and this was the perfect idea. This is the perfect definition to what a family is. This is what we have written on our print:
a group of people related by blood or united through friendship and love.
. the result of two people falling in love.
the ones you live for, laugh with, support, forgive and love unconditionally with all your heart. Recently I have been working really hard getting back into my fitness regime. I have been going on early morning runs and I am back to eating keto-friendly foods. One of my biggest downfalls, when I’m trying to keep fit, is not drinking enough water! I’m terrible at remembering! Recently I was scrolling through Instagram and had stumbled across @realactivemovenent They sell big beautiful and unique water bottles and accessories. I purchased a purple 1.4L bottle and I have filled it up twice a day every day for the last 7 days and I am very proud of myself for remembering! It’s big enough and I don’t think I will forget to drink water anytime soon! 😉 Did you know that 10% of the proceeds from every sale is donated to their incredible mental health charity partners. How awesome is that!
I haven’t spoken about this topic much but I too have struggled with my mental health over the years due to different life challenges being thrown my way. But it needs to be spoken about alot more and I will do all I can to help with this. I am very happy to support such a great movement. It’s important to always support each other and be kind always. You can never truly know what a person is going through in their life. Your kindness and support will go such a long way.

As most of you know by now we are large homeschooling family living in regional New South Wales and we have been schooling now at home for almost 5 years and it’s been wonderful. Although homeschooling has mostly been a breeze for my children and I, there, of course have been some struggles along the way especially when it comes to maths. Maths is not their favourite subject and if i’m honest it’s not mine either, however, it’s important that we work hard at mathematics because we will be using these skills for the rest of our lives! The children often find their workbooks boring and lose interest very quickly! I decided it was time to try a different method of learning.
Maths online – In collaboration with Maths Online
In the last few days we have starting using a 12 month family membership with maths online and although it’s only early days my children are really excited to use it! I have never seen them so excited about maths before so I’m definitely a very happy mum right now! Over the next 12 months I will be updating you on their ongoing progress with the program We are so excited! Maths has just been become a fun subject in our household thanks to maths online!
Each of the 1,400+ Maths Online tutorials last around 4-9 minutes and present the concepts of the maths lesson step-by-step. Using synchronised audio and animation which harnesses both audio and visual learning styles simultaneously. Maths Online lessons can be studied at home or at school and all devices. Obviously no one can force a young person to study maths, but what we have done here is to provide materials that are interesting and stimulating in themselves, and which will encourage the student, once started, to continue studying.
What we love about it
What I love about the programs
far is the video tutorials that you can listen to before each lesson. the tutorial explains the
lesson very well and even shows you few examples to help you. I also love that
I am able to set tasks and keep a track of my children’s progress.
As you all know I am a busy mum of 9 children under 11, which includes 8 girls and 1 boy! Life can be chaotic but it’s still a lot of fun! There is never a dull moment in out house. We also home-school our children full-time. if you think we sound busy then I think I should let you know that we also have 1 dog, 7 hens and 2 ducks! In our busy household, things can get extremely messy especially when it comes to baking and arts and crafts! I’m forever cleaning up after the children. It’s a never- ending task! I know many families can relate to this?
Recently have been trying to switch all our cleaning products to more natural and safer alternatives and so I was excited when I came across Koh.I know this might sound cheesy but I have never been so excited about a cleaning product before as I am now!
Koh has kindly sent me the mop bundle to try and review. I am blown away by how amazing it is! I never had any universal product like this before! it is a huge game changer and will make a huge difference to our family life! You have to try this out because I am telling you it is AMAZING!

My family and I are featured in the Canberra times today. We were super happy to be featured on the front page of the popular paper. Our full story is on page 4. I am also honored they picked my family and I for their special mothers day feature. They could have picked anyone and they chose my tribe and I.
The article was beautifully written by Megan Doherty from the Canberra times. The pictures are incredible and were taken by the amazing Canberra times photographer Karleen Minney. We had so much fun with this photo shoot!
I am usually very hesitant and wary when it comes to doing media because as well as it being a positive and fun experience, it can also very a very negative and dark experience. I will protect my family at all costs and therefore I am picky with what I chose to do. I thank the Canberra times for taking care in writing such a beautiful story about my family and I, It’s so lovely to read a positive story especially with all the terrible things that are going on in the work right now.
“I AM A MUM OF 9 AND I HAVE NEVER BREASTFED MY CHILDREN”.
Yes, that’s right! You heard me. “I am a mum of nine children and I have never breastfed my children”. That’s not to say I didn’t attempt to with my first 2-3 children because I tried really hard but unfortunately it didn’t work out! And I did suffer from mum guilt. You might be wondering why I am bringing this up today? Well… it’s because I am sick and tired of seeing other women tearing other women down for their choices! You should never shame another mama for her choices ever! Especially when it comes to her children. And not only that. You don’t know what secret battles they could be facing in their life! As a parent, it is your right to do what’s best for your child. Why other people think they can judge that is beyond me! So yes I have never breastfed my children, but I did try and when it didn’t work out I was incredibly upset. All nine of my children are thriving and are full of life! And that is the most important thing to me!
I once saw a doctor who said; “yes there are guidelines to follow, but you as the mother know what’s best for your child and you will know when your child is ready for solids etc.
Do what’s right for you and your family but please don’t judge others for the choices they make for their family because it’s really none of your business! Support one another and be kind always

Today I am talking about a highly requested subject; ‘HOMESCHOOLING!
If I am honest then it’s not something I have felt comfortable talking about before and that’s not because I am ashamed of it! I think it’s more that it’s about our private life and while I love sharing about my family and I, there are obviously certain aspects we wish to keep private. The other reason is for the pure fact that for some reason homeschooling can be a sticky subject! Today I am opening up and sharing a little bit of our homeschooling journey with you all. The reason I am sharing this today is that I have been asked by many of my readers to share what it is like to homeschool and because they are interested in homeschooling too but don’t know where to start. So if I can help in any way then I am happy to do so.
For the last four and a half years we have chosen to home school our children. It was not an easy decision but my husband and I felt it was the best decision for our busy family. My family and I live in a rural town in regional New south wales, I guess you could say we live in isolation! The closest shops and mainstream schools are over 45 kilometres away! We do have a small school in our town that we have used in the past but still felt that homeschooling was the way forward and more manageable for our family. Before we made our decision about home-schooling, we made sure we did do our research to see if it was the right option for us. It’s always best to have a good plan in place before you start something as huge as this.
A lot of people say home-schooling is hard! Well, they are not wrong! You are going to have your good days and bad days, However, it gets better over time and eventually, you will adjust in your schooling routine. You have just have to stick to it out and give it a good go! It took me a good year before I felt comfortable and established in what I was doing. There are so many resources available online that can assist you with your schooling and honestly, you are easily spoiled for choice! Google is your friend!
People seem to think that because our children are home-schooled that they don’t socialize or make friends! This, however, is not true, we attend to sporting activities outside of school hours. Our children also play with other children. My children are very sociable and can easily make friends without any issues. Many people also have said to me that they are not ‘patient enough to home educate their children or they feel they are not ‘smart enough to teach them! And I say; “You should never put yourself down” and while I understand that homeschooling is not always the best option for everyone due to work commitments etc..I am a firm believer that anyone can do it if they put their minds to it! So never say you can’t do it because you can! Believe in yourself and your ability to do so! At first, I doubted myself but that feeling soon passed when I saw how happy the children were, and how much progress they were making with their work, then that made realize I was doing something right. I have honestly learnt so much over the years! it’s actually incredible! My kids amaze me every day! I am officially schooling six out of my nine children which range from kindergarten to year five. My younger ones also like to sit and learn as well which gives them a great head-start for when it’s their time to start school! Its always good to get everyone involved! The kids love that!
In New South Wales by law, your children have to be enrolled in school from the ages of 6 up until the age of 16. We are officially enrolled under N.E.S.A We have a CSIRO that comes out to our home and assesses us every 2 years to make sure everything is up to scratch. We follow the New South Wales syllabus and we do a mix of Australian and an American curriculum but still making sure we cover what the syllabus asks. We use a few online programs for children like readingeggs.com.au and studyladder.com.au.
We start our schooling day at 8.45am and work all the way through till 1.30pm. By doing this we get all of our daily subjects done and have the afternoon free for our lunch, outdoor play/ sports, and housework. The children are then free to do arts and crafts, puzzles, games etc.. This time-frame works well for us and can easily be adjusted if need be.
What I love most about home-schooling my children is being able to spend one on one time with my children teaching them and watching them grow! I love watching them learn new and exciting things every day. It honestly brings me so much joy! I also love that we get to go on our own school excursions! Over the last few years, we have been on some great excursions! The last couple of years I have been using the ‘National Capital Teachers Pass’ which has been absolutely amazing! It can be used for the Science museum, National library, Cockington green and so much more! It even gives you access to so many useful and historical resources! if you are a home-school family in New south wales then check this link here to see if you are eligible for the teachers pass; https://canberraexcursions.org.au/national-capital-teachers-pass
Home-schooling is hard but it’s not as hard as you think! There are so many online groups especially on Facebook that you can join for additional support, ideas and advice. It is also a great way to connect with other families who could be homeschooling in the same area as you and it’s also great to have a supportive online community if there is no one else in your area that home-schools. Don’t ever feel alone in this process and always ask for help if you need it!
If you are thinking of homeschooling then click on the link for your state requirements Below;
Today I want to talk to you about the best nappy cream ever called Sudocrem! I am sure most of you have heard of it!
I am a mum of Nine children under eleven, and for years I have used Sudocrem for the whole family. Not only is it good for the kids skin, it is also good for my husband and I’s skin! it’s really suitable for all
Sudocremprovides gentle yet effective relief from cuts, grazes and minor burns. It helps to heal wounds by forming a protective layer over the vulnerable area, reducing the risk of infection, and also contains a mild local anesthetic to soothe discomfort.
I love thick thickness of the cream and how it acts as a barrier on the affected area! When my children have been teething in the past, they usually would get a bad nappy rash around the same time! I apply sudocream during these tough teething times times and within 2 -3 days the rash would be clear! It’s my go to cream for cuts, rashes, dry skin, grazes and minor burns! No other cream has worked for this! It even works on my hands when my dermatitis is bad in the winter season. I carry a tub of the cream everywhere I go! I absolutely love it!
Body shaming can happen in many forms but it is never acceptable in any circumstance and never will be! But have we all been guilty of it at some point in our lives?
I have been body shamed over the years. I remember the first incident happened when I was about 11 years old! I was just a child! I’ve been called too fat, obese, boobless or even too small especially since my recent weight-loss.
I have never called anyone too fat or too thin and I never would! “But… and I want to be completely honest here and say that I once asked a woman when her baby was due thinking she was pregnant but of course she wasn’t pregnant and I instantly apologized and felt so terrible about it. I can only imagine how horrible she must have felt when I said that. I should have never assumed.😭
Not long after that incident I had a taste of my own medicine when someone asked me if I was pregnant! I know ‘I have had a lot of babies’ but in that particular moment I wasn’t pregnant and I remember feeling so awful about myself as she eyed me up and down! I think I must have been standing funny too. She even said after “Oh sorry but I can see a belly on you! Some people don’t know when to stop do they?!
After having 9 children I was an unhealthy 107 Kg but I’ve worked really hard over the last 2 years on my health and well-being and I’ve lost 33 kilos, however, my weight does fluctuate a bit. I’m still on my weight-loss journey and I’m working really hard to lose more weight. I know myself that I need to lose a few more kilos but others just assume I’m too small, I can assure you that although I’ve lost a lot, I am by no means small and I’m still not happy with the way I am and who knows if I ever will be happy! I think as a woman we always feel insecure about something and that will never change.I am proud of what I have achieved so far but I question myself daily if i’m happy with my progress…
We should ALWAYS be careful of what we say to others as we can never truly know what the other person is going through. We are all on our own unique life journeys.
Remember you are worthy, beautiful and unique
Please remember to be kind always
The world is in such turmoil right now so lets stick together and build each other up
Over the last 8-9 weeks in isolation my hair has grown so thick and so long and I’m just really fed-up with it! However, I decided to embrace my bad hair and style it in a fun but wacky, bad hair kind of way. I can easily build a nest on my head which can hold hen eggs 🤣 All I did was tie half my hair up, then I made two small pig-tails at the front of my hair, I then wrapped them around to make a small nest and secured it with a hair clip. After I finished styling it, I placed the egg in the middle.😁
The bad hair may day event by Variety – the Children’s Charity Australia is planning to to be held on May 29th. This May, they are inviting all Australians to embrace their ‘work from home’ looks – and then on May 29th come go crazy! Add a little colour, chop, mullet or shave if you feel brave enough 🙌
If you have a bad hair day style or a crazy colour or video you’d like to share then please sign up to bad hair May – it’s free to register!
